Commissioning Process

Step 1: Get in Touch

Please get in touch via email or social media direct message. We will discuss your requirements, who you’re looking to have in the portrait and which size you like.

We will also discuss the best reference images to use. I work best from high quality images to allow me to achieve the most life-like representation of your pet. To create the portraits, I work mainly from one image, but it is great to have a range of photos to reference to be able to best capture your pets character. For more information about how to take the best reference photo take a look at my photo guide.

If you live locally to Cardiff, I offer a photography service for just £50 per pet. This allows me to work with the best possible images to draw from to produce your portrait. Once I have taken the photos you will have digital copies of them to keep as well as physical prints to purchase. Please contact me for details.

Once we have discussed all the details of your portrait, I will create a mock up using your reference image to give you an idea of what the portrait will look like. This is an opportunity for any further compositional tweaks before starting the portrait. This is particularly important for portraits with multiple pets.

I would also love to know a bit about your pets character so I am able to bring all these aspects into the final portrait.

Step 2: Booking

Once we have discussed your requirements of the portrait we can arrange booking you into my next available slot.

I also offer an additional framing service to those local to Cardiff. (Please note this is an additional charge)

I take a 50% deposit to secure the booking via bank transfer. The remaining balance is paid on approval of the portrait.

Step 3: Creating the Portrait

All of my portraits are drawn using the best quality artist materials which means your portrait will stay looking great for a lifetime. I use Faber-Castell Polychromos & Caran D'ache Luminance pencils to produce my work on Fabriano Artstico hot press 640gsm Watercolour Paper which is made with 100% cotton, chlorine and acid-free, guaranteeing long conservation of the portrait.

Throughout working on the portrait, I will keep you regularly updates on my progress and will send through photos and and videos of your pet coming to life on the page.

Step 4: Framing and Postage

Once your portrait is complete and you are 100% happy the remaining balance is paid via bank transfer.

Every portrait is gift wrapped with a certificate of authenticity.

If your portrait is framed the it can be collected from myself.

Tracked and insured UK delivery is included in the prices shown.
